The Sydney L Gauge Group (SLGG), attended the 49th Annual show of the Australian Model Railway Association at Sydney’s Liverpool Leisure Centre. Held of the October long weekend, ths show hosted a variety of layouts with varying gauges. SLGG this year produced our greatest layout thus far – with the public agreeing. The SLGG layout “Brickston Valley” won the Public Choice Award – an award we have aspired to win since Lego has been displayed at the annual AMRA show. The Sydney Lego community has been represented since 2006 by other groups such as the Sydney Lego Train Club and SydLUG. SLGG aims to display high quality model railroads using Lego as the medium of choice.

The display featured a country and city section separated by a wharf with working gantry crane. The country resembled a small English village with Hogsmeade Station, limestone cottages and an Antiques dealer. The wharf incorporated a traction sub station to power all catenery, coast guard base and working crane (rc controlled) loading a Maersk off shore tug.

The city featured many of the official LEGO modular buildings as well as English inspired grand station, tram shed, Pulp fiction inspired Big Kahuna Burger restaurant, Vahalla cinema, and Kiama inspired Post Office. The rear of the city had an industrial area with an English inspired locomotives shunting goods.
